Taiwan

Taiwan is one of the largest offshore wind markets in Asia, aiming to deliver an additional 15 GW of offshore wind from 2026 to 2035.

Energising Taiwan with offshore wind

As one of the largest offshore wind markets in Asia, Taiwan is aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Offshore wind is set to play a significant role in achieving this target with an additional 15 GW of capacity planned to be developed by 2035.

In Taiwan, Corio Generation is jointly developing the Formosa 3 project with TotalEnergies. It is a planned multi-phase offshore wind development with a total potential capacity of up to 2 GW.

Formosa 3 will be developed off the coast of Changhua County on Taiwan’s central-western coast. The first phase, Haiding 2, secured a 600 MW grid capacity allocation in December 2022.

“As a transformative source of clean and reliable energy, we believe offshore wind offers huge benefits to Taiwan’s communities and economy.”
