Corio Generation opens new global headquarters in United Kingdom

Corio Generation has officially opened its new headquarters in London, CEO Jonathan Cole announced today, in a move which cements the company’s status as one of Great Britain’s premier offshore wind developers – an award-winning business with global reach, developing one of the world’s largest offshore wind project portfolios.

Since it launched two years ago, Corio has doubled its pipeline of offshore wind farms in development across Europe, Asia-Pacific and Americas to 30 GW. Active across 15 markets worldwide, Corio has a purpose-driven team of 300 industrial and financial specialists based in strategic regional hubs such as London, Edinburgh, Madrid, Seoul, Melbourne, Taipei, Boston and Rio de Janeiro.

Corio’s new global headquarters is based at one of the UK’s most sustainable new commercial office premises: the JJ Mack Building in Farringdon. The building is EPC ‘A’ and BREEAM Outstanding rated and was constructed with low carbon materials such as ‘Earth Friendly Concrete’, making it a strong match for Corio as a leading green energy business.

Commenting on the move, Jonathan Cole, CEO of Corio Generation, a Macquarie Asset Management portfolio company, said: "We are delighted to have found our new home in the heart of London, close to the city’s financial district. Selecting this location for our global headquarters reflects our continued commitment to the UK market and our desire to operate as sustainably as possible, while meeting the growing needs of our business.”

While Corio is a relatively new brand in the offshore wind market, having launched in April 2022, the business has deep roots in renewable energy development due to its Macquarie heritage and origins in the UK Green Investment Bank. Macquarie is one of the largest investors in the UK’s offshore wind sector, having helped finance projects representing an estimated 50 per cent of the UK’s operational offshore wind capacity.

In the UK today, Corio is developing with its partners two major wind farms totalling over 3.5 GW: Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind off the coast of Lincolnshire in England, and West of Orkney Windfarm off the coast of Orkney in Scotland. In total, the two projects will produce enough renewable electricity to power over 3.6 million UK households.

The lease agreement for Corio’s new headquarters on the 9th Floor of the JJ Mack Building was entered into with landlords Helical and AshbyCapital.
