Offshore wind power can play an increasingly important and complementary role in Brazil’s energy transition.

Energising Brazil with offshore wind

Brazil is blessed with immense wind resources along its vast coastline, offering a new source of clean, affordable and reliable energy that can generate green jobs and support economic development.

Global offshore wind developer Corio Generation, working alongside Brazilian renewables developer Servtec Energia, is aiming to develop multiple offshore wind projects in Brazil, totalling up to 6 GW.

Corio and Servtec have registered five fixed-bottom proposed wind farms in the country’s north-eastern, south-eastern and southern maritime areas, each around 1.2 GW in size.

Five Brazilian offshore wind projects:

·       Costa Nordeste Offshore Wind, North-east coast of Brazil, 1200+ MW

·       Vitoria Offshore Wind, South-east coast of Brazil, 1200+ MW

·       Guarita Offshore Wind, South coast of Brazil, 1200+ MW

·       Cassino Offshore Wind, South coast of Brazil, 1200+ MW

·       Rio Grande Offshore Wind, South coast of Brazil, 1170+ MW
