Australia

The Australian federal government is aiming to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Energising Australia with offshore wind

While offshore wind is new to Australia, it is set to play a critical role in the nation’s energy mix.

Corio Generation, a portfolio company of Macquarie Asset Management, is one of the leading pioneers of offshore wind energy in Australia.

We are developing Great Eastern Offshore Wind, a 2.5 GW fixed-bottom offshore wind project, located 22 km off the Wellington Shire coast in central Gippsland, Victoria, in Australia’s first declared offshore wind zone.

The Great Eastern Offshore Wind project is one of the largest proposed offshore wind farms developments in Australia and could be among the first projects constructed.

Once operational, Great Eastern Offshore Wind would help meet both the Victorian Government’s offshore wind target of installing at least 2 GW by 2032, and contribute to the Australian Federal Government’s net zero emission targets by 2050.

Corio has built a team of offshore wind and infrastructure specialists on the ground in the state of Victoria. This team has deep experience in delivering offshore wind projects overseas and complex infrastructure projects locally in Victoria.

“Based on what we have seen from successful offshore wind deployment around the world, I am pleased to see that all the key drivers are being progressed effectively in Victoria, particularly in Gippsland.”
